Champions of Change: Crowdfunding Entrepreneurs

At Blackcrowdfunding.net, we support

"The White House Champions of Change program highlights the stories and
examples of citizens across the country who are "Winning the Future"
with projects and initiatives that move their communities forward.

This May, the White House Office of Public Engagement will host a
Champions of Change event for entrepreneurs who exemplify the promise
of crowdfunding to fuel the growth of startups and small businesses
across the Nation. "Crowdfunding" means raising money in small
increments from many individuals, typically using an Internet
platform. Donation-based crowdfunding is already empowering many
entrepreneurs, while investment-based crowdfunding platforms will soon
be facilitated by the bipartisan Jumpstart Our Business Startups
(JOBS) Act, which the President signed one year ago and the SEC will
implement.

We are asking for your help to identify crowdfunding entrepreneurs who
may be "Champions of Change." For example, a champion’s work may
entail:

Contributing to community economic development or neighborhood revitalization
Improving public health
Manufacturing innovative products that are made in America
Deploying clean energy solutions
Democratizing investment in scientific research

Nominate a crowdfunding entrepreneur as a Champion of Change.

Please submit nominations by noon on Friday, April 26.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,

Tom Kalil
Deputy Director for Technology and Innovation
White House Office of Science and Technology Policy"

New Crowdfunding Site Supports Black Entrepreneurs

BlackCrowdfunding.net aims to solve the issues of African-American unemployment.
"Crowdfunding sites have become increasingly popular over the years with entrepreneurs seeking financial support for their big ideas.
William Michael Cunningham, the founder of BlackCrowdfunding.net, recently launched the new crowdfunding website specifically to help African-Americans, who are still unemployed at numbers higher than the national rate....
Cunningham will be teaching crowdfunding at the D.C. Hive (Home of Innovators, Visionaries, Entrepreneurs), located in Southeast D.C., and encouraging students to use the site as a tool to raise money."

Crowdfunding websites raise $2.7 bln in 2012

According to recent reports, "Crowdfunding websites helped companies and individuals worldwide raise $2.7 billion from members of the public in 2012, an 81 percent increase on the previous year, data showed on Monday...crowdfunding, which originated in the United States as a way to raise money for creative projects, has expanded rapidly as an alternative source of finance.

Interest in crowdfunding exploded after President Barack Obama signed the Jumpstart our Business Startups, or JOBS, act a year ago to legalise equity crowdfunding, subject to new rules being agreed by regulators."

We expect this to grow. See our book and our website, www.blackcrowdfunding.net
